What a comfort as we enter this glorious celebration of Christ's birth, that we as Christians have been delivered from Satan's power and can find the greatest comfort in Christ.
As we rest in Jesus alone, He promises to save us from the constant temptations that come our way, bringing us closer to Him and dealing with any undealt issues in our lives while making the paths straight before us. The greatest gift we are reminded of in December is Christ which is truly the greatest gift we could ever recieve in this life and is the only gift that gives eternal purpose. Every day in the Christian life is actually an observance of our Savior who is still, "God with us'. We get to put our gaze on Him, the matchless King who takes away the sins of the world. The bible says,
"You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you." -Isaiah 26:3
"Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all." -Psalm 34:19
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." -Philipians 4:6-7
As we pray for those we love this Christmas season whether its a wandering spouse, a rebellious child or an unsaved family member, we can find hope that Christ not only hears our prayers but gives us the remedy of peace...and protection. As we walk in prayerful obedience to Him and rest in his promises alone, we can be assured of His deliverance which He promises.
"Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from Him. Truly He is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress, I will not be shaken. My salvation and my honor depend on God; He is my mighty rock, my refuge. Trust in Him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to Him, for God is our refuge." -Psalm 62:5-8
