"But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." -Matthew 6:33
The most important thing to God on earth is the human soul. He desires none should perish and all should come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9). His heart is that creation knows Him and is restored to right relationship with Him. That makes any partaker in soul winning a high priority for God's glory. That is a great reason to share the gospel during a season of praying for a lost spouse or an unsaved loved one.
Even though it can be such a painful, difficult time, try to remember others around you don't know the Lord and you sharing the gospel can bring hope and healing to them, the same hope and healing you may be longing for in your own circumstance. You never know how your obedience to the Lord in sharing the gospel can be an influence to help someone come to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. This someone could even be someone else’s spouse or unsaved loved one, you never know!
Be encouraged by these Biblical examples that demonstrate the transformative power of the Gospel and praying for restoration:
-The Story of the Prodigal Son (Luke 15:11-32): In this parable, Jesus tells the story of a wayward son who leaves his father's house and squanders his inheritance. However, when the son realizes the error of his ways and returns home, his father welcomes him back with open arms. This story illustrates the power of forgiveness and restoration, and how even those who have strayed far from God can be welcomed back into His loving embrace.
-The Conversion of Paul (Acts 9): Before his conversion, Paul was a zealous persecutor of Christians. However, when he encountered Jesus on the road to Damascus, he was transformed and became one of the most influential figures in the early Christian church. This story demonstrates how God can change even the hardest of hearts, and how the message of the Gospel can bring hope and transformation to anyone, regardless of their past mistakes.
-The Healing of the Paralytic (Mark 2:1-12): In this story, a group of friends bring a paralyzed man to Jesus for healing. When they can't get through the crowded house, they lower the man through the roof. Jesus sees their faith and forgives the man's sins, which results in physical healing. This story illustrates the connection between spiritual and physical healing, and how the Gospel can bring healing and restoration to all areas of our lives, including our marriages.
When we share the Gospel during a time of having marriage difficulties or a prodigal loved one, we invite God into our broken relationships and trust in His faithfulness to bring healing and restoration. This can be a difficult and vulnerable process, but it's important to remember that God is with us every step of the way. As Romans 8:31 reminds us, "What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?"
If you're struggling to find hope, remember sharing the Gospel with those around you can bring transformation and restoration to even the most broken of relationships. Sharing the message of God's love is powerful and exemplifies you are trusting in His faithfulness to bring healing and reconciliation in your life no matter the circumstances.
